DR. MARK SPEAKMAN,
Since opening his private Kitsilano practice in 1995, Dr. Speakman has treated thousands of patients with care, respect, and compassion. For 18 years, Dr. Speakman has been a chiropractor for the Vancouver community, and continues today with the constant aspiration of achieving patient total well being.
Dr. Speakman’s goal to become a chiropractor was nurtured at Simon Fraser University, where he graduated with a B.Sc in Kinesiology in 1987. Wanting to continue to work with people, after graduating Dr. Speakman managed the Employee Wellness Program at the Vancouver General Hospital until 1991. He then decided upon becoming a chiropractor, and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 1995. His love for the ocean brought him back to the West Coast, and Kitsilano.
Dr. Speakman’s previous calling, attending theatre school at Langara College’s Studio 58, lead to an interesting turn of events in his early days as a chiropractor. After treating a former voice coach from the college, Dr. Speakman’s chiropractic skills were praised throughout the theatre community. He continues to serve as treating chiropractor for Langara College’s Studio 58, and for many other members of Vancouver’s theatre community. He has treated Sting, Malcolm McDowell, Jessica Alba, Carol Kane, Tom Landa and the Paperboys, as well as members of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Mark was cast chiropractor for the Ford centre for the Performing Arts (Showboat, Sunset Boulevard, Phantom of the Opera, Ragtime), Bridge Studio Productions (Poltergeist, Outer Limits, Stargate Atlantis), as well as team chiropractor for the Club Adagio and Phoenix Gymnastics clubs in Vancouver. A noted expert in the field, Dr. Speakman has also testified as an expert witness on chiropractic care in the Supreme Court of B.C.
His passion for chiropractic care is second only to his love and adoration of his two beautiful daughters: Emma Speakman and Geneva Speakman. In Mark’s spare time he enjoys watching, and playing hockey and soccer. You might meet Mark walking his dogs at the dog beach in Kits.
